"On the Porch"

By tradition we have a Chuck Wagon cookout on
Monday evening followed by a CLE Course. Before dinner, and
the CLE course we have a chance to visit and exchange notes.
These discussions used to take place on the Porch of the Lodge, thus the name.
We are now in the "Reunion Cabin" but we still visit on the Porch.

The Lodge was the summer White House for
President Calvin Coolage and
President Dwight D. Eisenhower

Sturgis Street Scenes

Bike Week wouldn't be complete
if we didn't ride into Sturgis
to see the sights.

Tatoos are common in Sturgis.
There is a whole industry divoted
to this art form
which is thousands of years old.
2012-501

The artist works hard on his design and
is proud of his skill and final masterpiece.
Just look at Inked Magazine
2012-502

But Tatoos can be painful and worse yet . . .
2012-503

it is a creation, once applied, lasts forever.

In Sturgis there are alternative forms of art
available but some people think their work is
not worthy of praise.
2012-504

Like all artists, Rembrandt, Piccaso, Goya,
Titian, or Rubens, they start with a blank canvas.
2012-505

And then, brush in hand and unique design in
his mind, the artist performs his magic and
applies his skill to create another form of art.
2012-506

2012-507

2012-508

Pin striping your bike is a common
practice and evey biker takes pride in
his unique design.
2012-509

Why can't we do the same
with our body art?
2012-510

Each design is different, chosen by the
patron and there is pride in the result.
2012-511

Just ask permission to take a photograph
and you will receive a big smile and
a proper pose.
2012-512

Now, in this new frame of mind,
lets walk down Main Street, Sturgis
during bike week.

A World Map in the Old Armory lets
every show where they are from.
